Our story
Birdnerds Bolivia was born in 2019 to put Bolivia's underrated birding potential on the map. We've explored much of the country on our own in search of birds, learning their distribution, habitat and behaviour.
Our story
We started out focused on sharing knowledge, and later found we could share the birds of Bolivia in the form of tours, for locals and travelers alike. So here we are: passionate birdwatchers you can come and explore Bolivia and Peru with, watching birds in the most incredible places.

Thalía Chavez
Founder & guide
A lover of birds and nature. A tourism graduate, passionate about birds since 2016, the year I set out to learn about the birds of my country, Bolivia. I currently run Jucumari Lodge in the Yungas of La Paz, where I'm developing a birdwatching product. Birds have taken me to many places, and I can guide you across the whole country, adding a cultural touch so you discover Bolivia in many ways.

Founder & guide
Passionate about birds since childhood thanks to my older brother. I grew up watching birds and am a tourism graduate. I now combine my passion with my profession as a birding guide in Bolivia and Peru. I live in Bolivia, where I've also worked as a tourism coordinator in bird-conservation programs developing tourism in rural communities. With my field experience, binoculars and spotting scope, I won't miss a detail identifying birds in either country.
